96-98 Civic Cold Air Intake install in a 96+ V6 Grand Am
DISCLAMER: JEREMY IS NOT RESPONSIBILE IF YOU SCREW UP YOU CAR, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
This is a simple right up for a Civic Cold Air Intake for a 96-05 Grand Am with the 3100/3400 engine.
I bought a Civic Short Ram Air intake off a buddy of mine that was used on a 96 Civic EX.
If you have an air filter larger than 5" x 5" it might not work. This one barely fit inside fender.
I was not very good with cars when I did this, and I didn't have a totorial to go by. Anyone with some tools and the desire, can do this mod.
Parts Needed:
1. 92-99 Honda Civic Short Ram Air Intake Tube (Autozone, eBay, Local Performance shops - For $30-50)
2. "3 High Flow Cone Filter (Autozone, eBay, Local Performance shops - For $20-40)
3. "3 Flexible 90Degree Rubber Elbow w/Clamps (Ace Hardware, Home Depot, Lowes Part number 23486 Hardware stores - For $9)
4. Something to fill the Holes in the Civic Tube (Take the Civic tube in to the hardware store and say "I need to fill these Holes" $1-2)
Tools Needed:
Socket Set
1/2" Wrench
Drill w/ 1/2" bit
Screwdriver's
This is a picture of the piping and Filter (I know bad pic, sorry)

First, jack up the car and put it on stands, then take the wheel off, and take
the fender liner off.
I just put my car up on ramps, and moved the wheel well out of the way. (This
made the project a lot harder)

Then take out the Battory, old air box, the tube, and the Clamp that holds the box on the MAF.
Then stuff the long strait end of the Civic Tube down in the hole. This took some doing, but just stick the pipe strait down and move it around until its in enough. There is not a lot of room attach the Filter to the tube, but it will go on.

Next, you need to drill a 1/2" hole in the Rubber tube so the Air Tempratur
Sensor can be inserted.
The Air Temperature Sensor MUST be removed from
the stock air box and inserted in to the new piping. If this is not done your
check engine light WILL come on. This sensor is very sensative be
careful handing it. After the sensor is inserted it should stay in by it self
there is no need to attach it futher. Sometimes it popped out on me, but it
pops right back in.

Next came the instal on the Rubber pipe that led from the MAF to the Civic Tube. The openings on the ends of the tube are about 3.5". Just keep Clamping them on till there tight.

Reinstall Battery. After the instal the battery will not sit in the same place, I suggest putting a bundgi Cord over it to hold it down.

There you go a Cold Air Intake. Take it for a spin and see the proformance increse.
